- How do I renew my forklift certification?
- Complete the self-paced recertification course, pass the final exam, download your new certificate the same day, then have your supervisor complete the on-site practical re-evaluation using the form we provide.
- Is my forklift certification from a previous job still valid?
- Certification is employer-specific. Your new employer must evaluate your performance in the new environment and on the equipment used at the new site.
- I've driven forklifts for years. Do I still need to renew?
- Yes. Experience does not exempt an operator from 29 CFR 1910.178. The three-year evaluation applies to every operator.
- How often do I need to renew my forklift certification?
- OSHA requires re-evaluation at least every 3 years, or sooner if there's an accident, near-miss, unsafe observation, new truck type, or workplace change.
- Does forklift certification expire?
- Yes. Certifications must be re-evaluated at least every 3 years. Operating with an expired certification exposes both the operator and the employer to OSHA citations.
- How long is the recertification class?
- The self-paced course can be completed on your schedule, followed by the final exam.
- How much does forklift recertification cost?
- OSHA Operator charges $69 per operator for individual recertification, or as team seats from $49 ($45/seat from 2 seats, lower from 10 seats).
- Can I recertify online?
- Yes — the formal-instruction portion is available self-paced online. Your employer still needs to conduct a practical re-evaluation on the actual truck you'll operate. We supply the evaluation form.
- What if my certification has already expired?
- Enroll in self-paced recertification. There's no penalty from us for a lapsed cert, but you should not operate a forklift until you've completed training and your employer has re-evaluated you.
